Dental Implants Auckland

Dental Boutique’s dental implant clinic employ cutting-edge technology to create solutions for you to regain natural-looking and long-lasting teeth replacement.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are one option for replacing missing teeth, teeth that require extraction, or multiple teeth up to a full arch. Implants are placed in the jawbone and can provide support for surrounding teeth and oral structures. They are designed to function as a secure foundation for replacement teeth.  It is important to note, implant treatment is not suitable for everyone. Outcomes vary depending on bone quality, oral health, and healing response. Your dentist will assess your suitability and discuss risks, benefits, and alternatives.

Dental Implants Options in Auckland

At Dental Boutique™, we provide several implant treatment pathways to help replace missing teeth. The most suitable option depends on your individual oral health, bone levels, and treatment goals

Single Dental Implants

A single implant may be considered when only one tooth is missing. The process involves placing a small titanium post in the jaw, which acts as a new root, before attaching a crown on top. The aim is to create a replacement tooth that looks and functions much like your own.

Multiple Dental Implants

Multiple implants may be used to fill the gaps when several teeth are missing. Each implant supports a crown or bridge, restoring the space where teeth are missing. This approach can help with chewing function and appearance, while also preventing nearby teeth from shifting into the gaps.

Full Dental Implants (All on Implants™)

If most or all teeth are missing, or if advanced tooth decay is present, single implants may not be appropriate. In these cases, full-mouth implant treatment such as All on Implants™ may be discussed. This involves placing 4 to 6 implants in the jaw to support a full arch of replacement teeth. This approach is intended as an alternative to full dentures and is planned to help restore chewing function and appearance. To learn more about All on Implants™ visit here.

Computer-Guided Technology for Dental Implant Procedures

For dental implant procedures, we use computer-guided planning to assist in treatment. A 3D cone-beam scan creates a digital model of your mouth, which allows your dentist to plan the procedure virtually before surgery. Then, a computer-generated surgical guide can be produced to support the placement of implants. This approach is designed to assist with planning and may help improve consistency compared to freehand techniques. Your dentist will explain whether computer-guided technology is appropriate for your situation.

Types Of Implant Materials

Dental implants are most commonly made from titanium or zirconia. Both are biocompatible materials designed to replace missing teeth and provide stability for restorations. The choice depends on factors such as bone quality, oral health, and personal considerations. Your dentist will explain the risks, alternatives, and whether either option is suitable for you.

Zirconia Implant

Zirconia implants are made from ceramic and are metal-free, making them a possible option for patients with sensitivities to metal.

Features of Zirconia Implants:

  • Metal-free alternative to traditional titanium implants
  • May be considered for patients with sensitivities to metal
  • Designed to be durable and resistant to corrosion
  • Made from biocompatible materials intended to integrate with the body
  • Some studies suggest zirconia may reduce plaque accumulation compared with other materials.

Titanium Implant

Titanium dental implants have been widely used in dentistry for decades as an option for replacing missing teeth. They are made from strong, stable, and corrosion-resistant material and are designed to integrate with the jawbone and support long-term tooth replacement.

Features of Titanium Implants:

  • Long history of use in implant dentistry
  • Designed to fuse with the jawbone to provide stability
  • Strong and resistant to everyday chewing forces
  • Biocompatible and highly resistant to corrosion

Features of Dental Implants

Function & Comfort

Dental implants are designed to support chewing and speech by replacing missing teeth in a way that functions similarly to natural teeth. Because they are fixed in place, implants do not need adhesives and may feel more stable than removable dentures.

Durability

With appropriate care and regular dental reviews, implants are intended to be a long-term treatment option. Longevity varies between patients and depends on factors such as bone quality, oral hygiene, and overall health.

Appearance

Implants are planned with both function and aesthetics in mind. During treatment planning, the replacement tooth or bridge is colour-matched to surrounding teeth to help create a result close to a natural look. Outcomes vary, and your dentist will discuss what is appropriate for your situation
